API and x402 Pay-per-Call Terms

Free quotas, rate limits and current prices are those shown on the API page and in the actual HTTP 402 Payment Required parameters; these terms do not hard-code call counts or prices that may change.

Before paying, verify the amount, asset, network, recipient, mandate scope, and the current API/x402 Terms and Risk Disclosure. Real mainnet paid access is a low-value, rate-limited, capacity-controlled developer public beta; OceanAlt may set or adjust limits by wallet, IP, account, region, risk level or platform capacity.

OceanAlt is not a wallet or asset custodian. On-chain settlement in an x402 flow is performed by the user's wallet, the x402 client, a facilitator and the blockchain network; each party's responsibility depends on the protocol and service used. Current real settlement uses USDC on Base mainnet with the third-party Coinbase CDP facilitator. OceanAlt accepts no deposits, holds no balances or private keys, takes no share of the underlying transfer, and never substitutes the recipient address.

The Decision API returns allow / review / decline as defined in section 4 of the Website and Services Terms.

Developers must not: present allow as a “safety certification”; present decline as an official sanctions or criminal finding; strip OceanAlt's core risk disclaimer from the UI; or convert a failed or timed-out query into “safe/allow”. A failed query must remain failed or uncertain and must never degrade to a pass.

API output may include verdict, risk, reason_code, signal_keys, evidence, retry/retry_hint, evaluated_at (decision time) and evidence_as_of (date-granular coverage of the underlying lists). Judge freshness for your own use case. If OceanAlt returns review, uncertain, an error, a timeout or unavailable evidence, you must not claim that OceanAlt has confirmed safety.

A successful on-chain payment proves only that the payment reached the relevant settlement state. It does not prove that a third-party merchant delivered, that a third-party API returned a correct result, that the payee is lawful or safe, that you were not subjected to prompt injection or social engineering, or that OceanAlt guarantees any third party's performance. OceanAlt is responsible only for delivery of its own paid API service as set out here.

If a request has settled but, due to a verified OceanAlt system failure or duplicate charge, produced no usable response, send the transaction hash and request identifier to business@oceanalt.com within 7 days. Once verified, and where lawful, safe and technically possible, OceanAlt will return its own service fee to the original paying address or provide equivalent service credit. Third-party network fees (gas) are normally non-refundable.

Refunds are currently a manual verification process; there is no automated refund, and these terms do not promise one. Refusals returned because compliance, sanctions, risk, mandate, replay, limit or abuse checks failed are not refundable.

An API call grants a limited right to use that output. It does not grant the right to download or copy OceanAlt's full database, rebuild the risk set, resell third-party source lists, remove third-party attribution, or redistribute in breach of a source licence. Mandatory rights and obligations under upstream licences remain in force.

OceanAlt maintains a public output contract with versioning and a deprecation policy; changes to published fields are governed by the current /api/contract. The deprecation period in that contract binds OceanAlt, except for security, legal or emergency events.

OceanAlt may rate-limit, challenge, suspend or refuse service by IP, wallet, account, Agent, region, risk, capacity or abuse. Do not share, sell or publish credentials; do not bypass rate, replay, geographic or compliance controls; do not describe output as an official determination by a government, regulator or list maintainer.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OceanAlt's aggregate direct liability for the relevant paid API Service is limited to the greater of the OceanAlt service fees you actually paid for that Service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, and 50 USDC. OceanAlt is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss. These limits do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
