Meta Tests 'Hatch' AI Assistant That Can Fill Out Forms and Shop

Meta is testing an AI assistant internally codenamed "Hatch," which, according to an internal memo, can fill out forms, shop, conduct deep research, and "do anything you can do on the web." Business Insider reported the news on Thursday (Aug. 27). Hatch is positioned as a personal agent for everyday consumers, with stronger memory capabilities than most AI models, and allows users to approve sensitive actions before they are executed.

According to the report, Hatch has been trained to access websites such as DoorDash, Etsy, Reddit, Yelp, and Outlook. Early prototypes feature a customizable dashboard showcasing skills or tools created by the agent. Meta has not yet announced a release date or pricing, but earlier reports suggested the product could debut within weeks, with tiered pricing under consideration—premium subscriptions could reach up to $199.99 per month.

Hatch has been available for testing to Meta employees outside its AI labs since last month. If officially launched, it could join Meta's existing AI models, coding agents, and advertising products as a new avenue for monetizing its AI investments. Meta did not respond to PYMNTS' request for comment.
