Dunamu Partners with Visa to Advance Stablecoin and AI Payments

South Korean digital asset exchange Dunamu has announced a partnership with Visa to explore stablecoin settlement, AI agent payments, and cross-border remittance scenarios. According to its announcement, the two parties will leverage Visa's global payment network and Dunamu's compliance infrastructure to develop on-chain clearing and settlement solutions for institutional clients, with plans to launch pilot projects by 2026.

Dunamu, which operates the Upbit exchange, has previously obtained a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license in Singapore and has accumulated experience in stablecoin on/off-ramp services. In this collaboration, Visa will provide its tokenized asset settlement capabilities, while Dunamu will handle compliance channels for the Korean and Asian markets. The two parties did not disclose specific investment amounts but stated that they will prioritize machine-to-machine payment scenarios, including automated payments initiated by AI agents.

Industry analysts believe that the linkage between traditional payment networks and licensed exchanges is establishing a pre-settlement compliance framework for agent payments, including mechanisms such as KYC, KYA, and beneficiary whitelisting. Visa has previously launched settlement solutions for stablecoins, and this partnership with a leading Korean exchange could accelerate the adoption of agent payment infrastructure in the Asian market.
