IIFAA Forms Trusted Agent Identity Working Group, with Over 50 Institutions Joining Ecosystem Effort
IIFAA (the Internet Finance Authentication Alliance) has announced the establishment of a Trusted Agent Identity Working Group, with more than 50 founding participating institutions spanning device manufacturers, financial institutions, and security service providers. The goal is to build a unified framework for mutual trust in AI agent payments and identity authentication scenarios.
The working group focuses on core questions including: under what identity AI agents should access systems, how their operational intent can be verified, and how trusted identity transfer can be achieved across institutional boundaries. IIFAA has previously accumulated standards in mobile biometric recognition and device authentication, and is now extending its existing identity authentication capabilities to agent scenarios.
Against the broader industry backdrop, as AI agents gradually enter real transaction pipelines, questions of "who is operating, whether authorization has been granted, and whether accountability can be enforced" are becoming unavoidable in payment and identity authentication processes. The working group's specific technical specifications and implementation timeline have not yet been announced.
