AI Agents Race to Make Quantum-Safe Bitcoin Cheap, and Some Projects Are Already Ahead

According to Decrypt, multiple development projects driven by AI agents are competing around quantum-resistant security for Bitcoin, aiming to introduce signature schemes that can withstand quantum computing attacks to Bitcoin addresses without significantly raising on-chain costs. Some solutions have reportedly cleared testing environments and are leading on efficiency metrics.

The backdrop to this push is that Bitcoin's current ECDSA signatures are theoretically vulnerable to sufficiently powerful quantum computers, while early quantum-resistant proposals often drove up transaction fees due to large signature sizes and high verification overhead. AI agents are being used to generate, screen, and optimize candidate implementations at scale, thereby compressing costs.

The report did not disclose specific project names or verifiable on-chain data, and much of the progress comes from developers' own accounts. Whether a quantum-resistant migration will be adopted by the Bitcoin community still depends on consensus-level discussion and upgrade paths.
