xAI announced on September 26, 2026 that its Grok chatbot has launched a Finance integration feature, allowing users to link bank, credit card and investment accounts so that Grok can help manage spending and investments. According to the company's announcement on X, account connections are handled through Plaid, Grok does not obtain users' bank credentials, access is currently read-only, and users can disconnect at any time.
xAI's example use case: the agent analyzes a user's year of bank and credit card transaction records to identify duplicate subscriptions, price increases and services with overlapping features. Before this, Grok had already begun integrating some financial capabilities, including crypto trading, and this move further expands the scope of account data connections.
The launch comes as user growth for Grok Bot draws attention. According to Bloomberg News, as of September 14, 2026, Grok Bot had 418,000 weekly active users, up 24% from the previous week. About a month after launch, Grok Bot surpassed 400,000 weekly active users, seen as an early demand signal for xAI's push into an AI agent strategy.
