Airbnb CEO Says It Won't Open Bookings to External AI Agents Like Meta Muse

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said in a recent interview with Nikkei Asia that the company is "unlikely" to allow external AI agents such as Meta Platforms' Muse to book accommodations on behalf of users. Chesky said that planning a trip is itself an entertainment experience, and Airbnb wants to maintain direct interaction with consumers rather than being bypassed by third-party agents.

Muse is an AI agent introduced by Meta that can autonomously browse websites and complete transactions. Chesky's remarks reflect growing concerns among travel companies that AI assistants could weaken their direct relationships with customers. Airbnb has not yet announced any specific plans to allow external agents to access its platform.
