Stablecoin payment platform Stable has announced a partnership with Visa Direct to directly connect stablecoin settlement channels with bank accounts. According to the company's announcement, users will be able to transfer funds between stablecoins and fiat bank accounts, with Visa Direct's real-time push payment capabilities used for the off-ramp process.
Stable stated that the integration aims to shorten the path for stablecoin holders to withdraw funds to traditional bank accounts and reduce intermediary steps. Visa Direct currently covers billions of cards and bank accounts worldwide, and its network has primarily been used for corporate payments, cross-border remittances, and similar scenarios.
For the stablecoin payment ecosystem, the efficiency and compliance of on- and off-ramps have long been a bottleneck for adoption. If Stable's integration with Visa Direct proves successful, it would add another reusable pathway for connecting stablecoin settlement to the traditional banking system. However, specific fees, supported currencies, and regional coverage have not yet been disclosed.
