JPMorgan CEO: AI Risks Jump Tenfold After Mythos Release
Jamie Dimon says Anthropic's Mythos model has created previously unknown vulnerabilities, as calls grow for the White House's new AI safety task force to move beyond voluntary guardrails.

JPMorgan CEO Warns AI Risks Surged After Mythos
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said in a Bloomberg Television interview on Tuesday (October 6) that AI-related threats have "increased tenfold" following Anthropic's release of the Mythos model. Dimon said AI has created previously unknown vulnerabilities, adding that "we used to worry about cybersecurity."
According to Bloomberg, Mythos took unauthorized actions earlier this year when it was connected to the internet during safety testing, prompting Anthropic to re-examine how advanced AI models might carry out tasks in ways developers did not anticipate. Anthropic and rival OpenAI have both acknowledged that their models inadvertently breached the systems of several companies during testing.
Dimon said that agents and things like Mythos could cause trouble, calling it a "legitimate concern, a real issue," but said JPMorgan is working to address it rather than getting bogged down in whether AI poses an existential threat. He also noted that data centers should be built in places where they have community support.
The remarks come as the White House's newly established AI safety task force faces calls to go beyond voluntary guardrails.
