Standard Chartered, Circle, Ripple Back OKX at Unchanged $25B Valuation
Crypto exchange OKX has completed a new funding round with investors including Circle, Qube Research Technologies (QRT), Ripple and Standard Chartered's SC Ventures, at a pre-money valuation of $25 billion. The round is an extension of the March round led by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. The amount raised was not disclosed.
All four investors have existing business relationships with OKX: Circle issues the USDC stablecoin, QRT is a major counterparty, Standard Chartered provides custody for client collateral, and Ripple listed its RLUSD stablecoin on OKX in April.
OKX founder and CEO Star Xu said the proceeds will be used for business expansion and real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. OKX has been accelerating its push beyond crypto: in May, ICE agreed to license its Brent and WTI crude benchmarks for OKX perpetual futures; since July, it has offered more than 40 tokenized US equities and ETFs to clients outside the US and Europe; and yesterday, OKX and ICE announced the launch of a tokenized securities venue (TSV) using an SEC exemption.
