Nous Research Raises $90M Series B at $1.5B Valuation
Open-source AI lab Nous Research announced on October 7, 2026 that it has closed a $90 million Series B round at a post-money valuation of $1.5 billion. The round was led by Robot Ventures, with participation from NVIDIA, Microsoft's M12, Samsung, Y Combinator, Union Square Ventures, and Menlo Ventures, among others. To date, the company has raised approximately $160 million in total.
The new funding will be primarily directed toward its autonomous AI assistant Hermes Agent, as well as an enterprise-facing commercial version and a planned mobile app. Launched in February 2026 under the MIT license, Hermes Agent supports both local and hosted deployment, features persistent memory across sessions, and can generate reusable skills on its own while executing tasks.
Prior to this Series B, Nous Research closed a $50 million Series A led by Paradigm in April 2025. According to the company, its early financing included a combination of equity and Simple Agreements for Future Tokens (SAFTs), totaling roughly $70 million—a structure that is uncommon among most AI labs.
