Samsung Adds USDC Cross-Border Payments to Galaxy Wallet
Samsung Electronics has launched USDC cross-border payment functionality within Galaxy Wallet, reaching its 82 million wallet users. According to CryptoRank, the feature allows users to conduct cross-border transfers and settlements directly in USDC, bypassing traditional bank wire channels.
Galaxy Wallet comes preinstalled on Samsung Galaxy devices, and this integration embeds stablecoin payments into a consumer-grade hardware touchpoint. USDC is issued by Circle, pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar, with reserves held in cash and short-term U.S. Treasuries.
Samsung did not disclose the initial markets where the feature will be available or per-transaction limits. The company has previously supported crypto asset custody and transfers in some markets, but direct access to stablecoin cross-border settlement is a first. For stablecoin issuers, preinstalled access on a phone maker's devices means distribution channels are extending from exchanges to the device level.
