Breez: AI Coding Agents Drive Surge in Bitcoin Integration Demand, Partnership Inquiries Up About 14x

Bitcoin software company Breez disclosed in an official blog post that since AI coding agents entered the mainstream, partnership inquiries for its developer tools have increased about 14-fold. The company attributes this change directly to Anthropic's Claude Code—a tool that launched in a research preview in February 2025 and became generally available three months later.
Breez said that before 2025, its potential partners fell mainly into three categories: staunch Bitcoin supporters, crypto developers, and fintech companies that viewed Bitcoin as an asset class. After Claude Code's launch, a large number of developers with little to no Bitcoin experience began to pour in, with demand coming from fitness apps, messaging apps that want users to transfer money to each other, eSIM services for travelers, and the team behind a mushroom identification app.
According to Breez, these developers choose Bitcoin largely for speed: traditional payment integration involves bank accounts and cross-border transfers and often takes weeks or even months, while its SDK can be up and running in minutes. Breez also noted that a growing share of inquiries comes from software rather than humans—coding agents are submitting integration requests on behalf of the companies that deploy them. The company believes agents prefer Bitcoin because it is permissionless: agents can build apps and set up payments for users worldwide without opening a bank account, passing onboarding review, or signing documents. Breez said its latest SDK implementation, built on the Bitcoin scaling protocol Spark, has smoothly handled the additional traffic.
