Leela Raises $4.6M to Build AI-Powered Compliance Teams for Fintechs
US-based compliance automation startup Leela emerged from beta in October 2026 and closed a $4.6 million funding round co-led by Array Ventures and Female Founders Fund. Founded by former lawyer and fintech executive Preeti Krishnan, the company's platform converts regulatory rules, internal policies, and sponsor bank agreements into executable workflows. AI agents then carry out fraud and anti-money laundering (AML) reviews, handle customer complaints, and draft suspicious activity reports, with final submissions subject to human review.
According to Leela, an early customer broke down 40 compliance policies into 262 executable obligations, and AI agents subsequently took on the specific tasks tied to those obligations. Krishnan said this model gives smaller fintechs access to the equivalent of a "ten-person compliance team," while larger institutions can use agents to scale their existing teams.
Compliance work has long been labor-intensive, with financial institutions required to meet the demands of multiple regulators and retain extensive documentation. Leela positions itself as directly executing compliance tasks rather than merely providing information for reference, though final decisions remain with humans.
