Human resources and finance software vendor Workday has unveiled its agentic AI roadmap, with core moves including the acquisition of AI company C1.ai and a partnership with Anthropic. According to the company's announcement, the two initiatives are aimed at embedding AI agent capabilities into its enterprise-grade platform, covering scenarios such as human resources and financial planning.
C1.ai previously focused on providing AI-driven automation solutions for enterprises. Following the acquisition, its team and technology will be integrated into Workday's product system. The partnership with Anthropic, meanwhile, centers on accessing underlying model capabilities, enabling Workday's agent features to call on the Claude series of models.
Workday did not disclose the transaction amount or a specific integration timeline. The move continues a trend of enterprise software vendors accelerating the embedding of agentic AI in 2026, after Salesforce, SAP and others successively rolled out similar features.
