Anthropic Internal Data: Entry-Level Tech Hiring Declines as AI Agents Log Six Times Employees' Working Hours
Internal figures from Anthropic show a marked drop in entry-level technical hiring, while the cumulative working hours of AI agents reached six times that of the company's employees.

Anthropic has released a set of internal figures showing a marked decline in entry-level technical hiring, while the cumulative working hours of AI agents over the same period reached six times that of the company's employees. According to BigGo Finance, the comparison is drawn from the company's own business and workforce data.
The figures place two developments on the same axis: contracting demand for entry-level technical roles on one side, and the rapid accumulation of workload handled by agents on real tasks on the other. Anthropic did not provide a complete account of its statistical methodology or the time frame in the disclosure.
The more tasks agents take on, the more common it becomes for them to invoke tools, access accounts and initiate payments. Constraints such as KYA (Know Your Agent) for agent identity, per-transaction limits and payee whitelists are therefore entering practical deployment discussions.
