Meta Platforms launched its personal AI agent Muse in Japan on October 24, 2026, marking the product's first move into an international market. According to Nikkei Asia, Meta said Muse will remain ad-free.

Alexandr Wang, head of Meta AI, said the company has stepped up investment in open-weight models since he joined, pursuing open models alongside its closed-source architecture as a way to counter competition from China.

The Japan rollout of Muse is the starting point for this round of Meta's international AI expansion. Information disclosed so far centers on product form and model strategy; the commercialization path and the list of subsequent markets have not yet been announced.
