ERC-8004 Draft Proposes Identity and Reputation Registry for AI Agents

An Ethereum community draft proposal numbered ERC-8004 proposes establishing an on-chain identity and reputation registry for AI agents, so that agents can be identified and their historical behavior traced and evaluated.
According to TOKENPOST, the draft is currently at the proposal stage and has not yet become a formal standard. Under the proposal's approach, the registry would record agents' identity information and interaction history, for callers to query before delegating tasks or initiating payments.
This direction echoes the growing KYA (Know Your Agent) demand in machine-to-machine payments: as agents begin to autonomously initiate transactions, counterparties need a queryable set of identity and performance records to decide whether to proceed. Whether the draft can advance to a formal standard, and who would maintain the registry, remain open for community discussion.
