Tencent and Visa Sign Cooperation Agreement to Explore Cross-Border Payments and Agentic Commerce
The two sides have confirmed the signing but have not disclosed the deal value, rollout timeline, or initial markets, nor have they published technical plans, pilot regions, or regulatory engagement progress.

Tencent and Visa have signed a cooperation agreement under which the two parties will explore cross-border payments and agentic commerce. According to Weidu Network, the agreement covers cross-border payment scenarios and transaction forms initiated by AI agents, but the two sides did not disclose the specific value of the cooperation, a launch timetable, or the first batch of markets where it will be implemented.
Tencent's existing payment-side assets include WeChat Pay and its cross-border remittance capabilities, while Visa possesses a global card network and merchant acceptance system. If the cooperation extends to agent payment scenarios, the links involved will go beyond channel integration to include the transmission of authorization intent and verification of per-transaction limits and payee identity.
At present, the two sides have only confirmed the fact of the signing and have not yet announced technical solutions, pilot regions, or progress in regulatory communication.
