Ripple Signs Coinbase, Robinhood and BNY in One Week, Secures OCC National Trust Bank Charter
In a three-day span, Ripple advanced RLUSD distribution across major U.S. trading platforms and institutional custody, while gaining a federal trust charter to complement its New York-regulated issuer.

Ripple advanced the rollout of its U.S. dollar stablecoin RLUSD through three consecutive days of announcements between October 26 and 28, 2026.
OCC Approves Ripple National Trust Bank
On October 26, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) approved Ripple's application to establish Ripple National Trust Bank. The approved activities include managing RLUSD reserves, acting as trustee to custody reserve assets for holders, and providing digital asset custody. RLUSD's issuing entity remains Standard Custody & Trust Company, which is regulated by New York State; the national trust charter adds a federal layer of supervision to the supporting operations.
Robinhood Partnership Covers Distribution and Treasury
On October 27, Ripple and Robinhood announced a partnership spanning customer services and Robinhood's own treasury management. RLUSD had already launched on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp, and is slated to arrive in the Robinhood app later this year. Robinhood also plans to use RLUSD for institutional settlement and to integrate Ripple Treasury into its global cash management. The agreement includes Ripple Prime providing Bitstamp with lending and margin financing across roughly 20 digital assets.
Coinbase and BNY Expand Access and Custody
On October 28, Coinbase opened RLUSD trading and management to retail and institutional customers, supporting one-to-one conversion with the U.S. dollar and other dollar stablecoins, with deposits and withdrawals across three blockchain networks. BNY, meanwhile, added support for RLUSD and XRP to its digital asset custody platform.
According to PYMNTS, the moves point to a single logic: competition among stablecoins is increasingly determined by distribution channels, regulatory standing and integration into everyday financial workflows.
