Q&A

How do I screen a TRON (TRC20) payee address for risk?

On TRON, check four layers: sanctions and terror-financing lists (Israel's NBCTF seizure orders contain many TRON addresses), Tether's on-chain freeze list (the USDT-TRC20 contract can freeze an address directly), address activity and public labels, and one-hop taint (whether it received funds from a frozen address). OceanAlt's free check runs all four in one pass: paste the T-address, every verdict carries its evidence source, no signup. If you pay or get paid in USDT-TRC20, one pre-payment check is the cheapest self-protection there is.

What makes TRON different

USDT-TRC20 is a workhorse rail for cross-border payments, which also makes it one of the most enforcement-heavy chains: Tether has frozen a substantial number of TRON addresses, and the freeze happens at the contract level, where no exchange or wallet can pull it back.

TRON addresses are case-sensitive (base58, starting with T), so eyeballing them invites mistakes. Paste the full string; never retype.

The free way

Web: paste the address into oceanalt.com/en/check. A list hit names the exact list and its listing date; a Tether freeze shows the read-only contract call result (isBlackListed = true); a fund-flow graph marks frozen counterparties in red.

Programmatic: GET oceanalt.com/api/risk?addr=T… is free and keyless — the same verdict for your system or agent.

The boundary

TRON's free on-chain data ecosystem is thinner than Ethereum's, so behavioural analysis runs shallower; a clear result still only means no match in available data. For large or recurring payments, add a small test transfer and ongoing monitoring.

Where to start: free address check · API docs · watch an address

Boundary of everything above: a screening "clear" only means no match in the data held, never a safety guarantee; this page is not legal or compliance advice.
