Hyphenate, a startup building AI agents for finance departments, has raised $45 million in new funding, according to a Bloomberg report on Tuesday (Oct. 27, 2026). The capital will be used to deepen its footprint in accounting and strategic finance.

Founded in 2024 by former Microsoft employees Ramnandan Krishnamurthy and Ajay Krishna Amudan, Hyphenate builds custom AI agents that handle bookkeeping for clients including Groupon and AI video avatar startup Synthesia, competing with companies such as Ramp. Krishnamurthy said the company's proprietary reinforcement learning algorithm learns from clients' financial histories, forming the "brain of a self-improving AI agent." According to the report, Hyphenate's revenue has grown 86x since it closed a $9 million seed round more than a year ago.

The raise comes as AI adoption across finance functions remains uneven. An October report from PYMNTS Intelligence found that the share of firms using generative AI for cash flow management rose to 80% in 2026 from 16% in 2025, while the share using agentic AI fell to 5% from 6% over the same period. AI is now widely deployed for analysis, reconciliation and recommendations, but letting systems execute fund movements autonomously remains rare.
