Shopify Brings Shop Pay Checkout to Meta's Muse AI Agent
Shopify and Meta announced on September 21, 2026, a partnership to integrate Shopify's one-click checkout solution, Shop Pay, into Meta's personal AI agent, Muse, covering all Shopify stores. Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke and Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang both confirmed the news on X the same day, stating that Muse users can complete agent-initiated checkouts directly within conversations.
Shop Pay is Shopify's accelerated checkout product for its merchants, supporting one-click ordering and embeddable in any platform or app. Shopify disclosed in August 2026 that Shop Pay's cumulative accelerated gross merchandise volume had surpassed $400 billion as of June 2026.
Meta launched Muse on September 8, 2026, positioning it as a personal AI agent for all users, accessible conversationally within the Muse app or WhatsApp. According to a September 20, 2026 report, Amazon has blocked Muse from accessing its e-commerce site.
